Recently I was given a slow cooker, or to put in American English, a crock pot. I have since fallen utterly in love with the greatest kitchen appliance of all time. However it has also got me thinking about eating healthily. See, since I started at the gym I have been utterly changed what I’ve been chowing down on.
I used to munch kebabs, oven chips, crisps, and all sorts of processed food.
Now my diet consists of porridge, lots of vegetables and food that I have to cook myself, not what the box tells me to do.
As I type this, I have a dish of my own invention bubbling away. Plenty of carrots, parsnips, swedes and other assorted vegetables, with some Indian spices and curry powder. I’m hoping it comes out like a veggie curry. I love experimenting with recipes and it can only be good for me. Unless I kill myself with food poisoning that is!
I have though just got back from Tesco and was killing time by looking at some of the things I used to eat. There are all sorts of weird looking things in some of them, with what I can only presume are artificial chemicals being added for some reason. E117? That’s a bus, not a foodstuff! I don’t know if I am explaining this properly but to me at least, dinner tastes so much damn better when you’ve cooked it yourself from scratch instead of just turning on the oven and slinging in the contents of a box.
