Even though I am not a Christian, people will insist on buying me Christmas presents. I’ve never been one to look a gift horse the mouth so I’ll happily accept any and all such things.
My mothers husband Michael gave me that present one gives when one cannot quite think of the right thing, namely the voucher. So today I headed straight to Sports Direct, the supplier of sporting goods (and sadly fashion wear for the chav!). The trainers I had been wearing for boxing were just about on their last legs so the voucher came in handy. I also know that I need to do more running to get my fitness up a notch, even though I can still do a good few rounds.
So with recommendations from several others at the gym I was looking for a pair of either New Balance or Asics. I was surprised to see that there’s differing trainers for those with flat feet and those without. I fall into the former category. I splashed on a pair of Asics that were £40 down from £89. That left me enough to get a new pair of boxing gloves and a couple of gum shields.
Tomorrow I plan on breaking them in for the first time. My gym is shutdown for the holidays so I’ve found another place, one that I have used before. This one has several running machines and untold amounts of weight machines, hardly any of which I know how to use. Even so, it’s still the only other gym I like to use. There’s several others around but they’re all either full of muscle marys, steroid junkies or cost upwards of 50 quid before one even works up a sweat.
I was planning on 30 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes of weights (or rather figuring out what the hell the machine does) and then another 30 minutes on the treadmill.
Bring it on!
