Sweet or Salty

Whilst I was off work this festive period I popped along to the cinema a couple of times and saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol. I enjoyed both films but whilst they were wildly different movies, the audience behaviour also differed.

In Dragon Tattoo movie, the audience was made up of people who obviously knew how to behave in public. There was no noise, no talking and no one arsing around on their mobile phones. In short people enjoyed the movie. However in Mission impossible, the audience was made up of people who should be forced to watch the entire back catalogue of Uwe Boll as punishment for their poor behaviour. I cannot express enough my disgust at people that see now problem with talking loudly during a movie, or passing comment on the action on screen. Also, when people put their mobile on silent but still text? I can still see the screen light up you morons! While I’m getting into my rant, is it too much to ask that people use the toilet BEFORE the film starts? I’ve noticed people getting up twice during a movie. it’s not like most movies last 4 hours is it?

A parent bringing their offspring to the movies is a great thing, it can introduce them to a world of wonder BUT for the love of cricket, make sure your child is able to sit bloody still and quietly! I’ve seen families bring their toddler sized kids to really unsuitable movies and then allow them to run around. I have toyed with the idea of sticking a foot out to trip aid small kids up such is my ire. It’s almost like the parents see the cinema as a de facto babysitter.

So, with that rant out of my system, it’s high time I told you (if there’s anyone reading this that is) about my new plan. See, the other cinema in Medway is part of a chain that offers something called the Unlimited Pass, which works as something akin to a season ticket. For £15 a month I can see as many movies as my bum will let me. It costs between £5 (on Cheap Tuesday) and as much as £10 to see a movie at the other cinema so if I go to 3 or 4 a month then it works out. The only issue is that this other cinema is on the other side of town, a good 4 mile walk away. Then again, I can combine going there with either a stroll back through Rochester, one of my favourite places or even a workout at a weights gym that I’ll also pass. I could realistically treat the walk as a workout. It wont be as if I’ll be munching the cinema food, another bete noir of mine.
